HFM 436
series heat flow meter instruments sets industry performance
standard.
Responding
to an industry need for high-performance thermal insulation test
equipment that is affordable and easy to use, NETZSCH now offers
the powerful HFM 436 series of heat flow meter instruments.
This series offers an advanced set of features in aggressively
priced units and sets industry standards for precision, speed,
ease-of-use and price-performance ratio.
All
test run functions-from temperature control to data acquisition
and analysis are completely automated, resulting in highly repeatable
thermal performance measurements. Drawing on more than thirty
years of experience in thermal instrument design, our engineers
created a better tool for optimized thermal performance testing:
High
precision, ultra-stable measurement system
Fastest
testing possible by ASTM C 518 & ISO 8301
Quick
estimates of final results can be made in less than 5 minutes
for some samples for QC and process control support
Easy
to use: Every unit automated; motorized plate movement; quick
test setup and launch; optional Windows-based automation software;
test status indicator lights
Plug
in and use anywhere - no other utilities or water lines needed
Integral
thermoelectric control system is air-cooled, CFC-free
Upgrade
options are easily added as needs evolve
The
HFM 436/3/1models allow testing of thermal insulations
and other low conductivity materials over a mean sample temperature
range of 10 to 90 C, and every unit is automated by one of two
systems. Control the embedded microprocessor using either the
front-panel mounted keyboard or via an external PC running our
Q-Lab Windows software. The HFM 436/3/1 accepts 300 mm
(12 inch) square samples up to 100 mm thick while the HFM 436/6/1E
takes 600 mm square samples at thicknesses up to 200 mm.
For
those testing only at a single, operator-defined temperature point
between 10 and 30 C our HFM 436/3/0 offers the same precision,
speed and ease-of-use as the 2300V. This model is equipped with
the same internal computer system found in the 2300V units comprised
of a bright, back-lit LCD screen and built-in keypad. The computer
takes data continually and analyzes it to test for equilibrium--freeing
the operator from constant test monitoring. A printed report is
provided on conclusion of the run.
Testing
Speed and Precision
Testing conducted on the HFM 436 stabilize very quickly, making
the instrument a valuable means of obtaining immediate feedback
on product quality in production settings. Precise plate temperature
control and the HFM's dual heat flux sensor configuration
make these very fast setting times possible -- in fact, for some
materials accurate estimates of thermal resistance are possible
after only a few minutes. Depending on test objectives, the operator
may choose to terminate the test at this point or let it run longer
in order to satisfy more stringent criteria of ASTM C 518 or ISO
8301.
